1.Three Gorges Dam Project

Three Gores Dam Project is short for the water control on the Yantze River.It is in the middle Xiling Gorge near Sandouping Town in Yichang City.As the world's largest hydropower project,there are so many "firsts" in this project like the largest migration project,the most difficult construction work and the most efficient dam in flood control.

The project comprises the dam, the hydropower stations and the navigation facilities.It takes 17 years from 1992 to 2009.It is as 607 feet long and as 3,319 yards wide.The whole project includes three stages.First satge was from 1992-1997.The cofferdam construction and excavation of a diversion channel were completed in the first phase.The second stage took six years from 1998-2003.The power station facilities and the installation of machinery on the left bank were ready.The last stage began from 2003-2009.

The project stirred a hot debate among locals and scientists.Some are concerned about the environment while others see the economy boost.

2.Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project

Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project is an experimental dam of Three Gorges Dam Project.It is in Yichang city as well 38 kilometers (23 miles) away from Three Gorges.The project began in 1970 and ended in 1988 at a cost of CNY 4.9 billion.The dam is 2,606 meters (1.6 miles) long and 53 meters (173 feet) high,dividing the Yangtze River into three parts-Da Jiang, Er Jiang and San Jiang.It includes two hydro electric power stations, three navigation locks, and several sluice-gates.

This project has brought lots of goods to people and country.It is also a great scenic spot attracting tourits all over the world

3.Three Gorges Tribe

The Three Gorges Tribe is bettwen Three Gorges Dam Project and Gezhouba Water Conservancy Project.The view here is like a painting with green mountains and crystal-clear water.You can also experience Tujia enthnic minority culture.Acrobatics,songs and dances are performed by Tujia people.The main attractions you can visit are shown as below.

The Shadow-Play Cave

The cave is 5,000 feet (1,524 meters) long with karst topography.There are different-shaped stalactites inside.Five-Colored Sound Stone is the most amazing one with five colors including black, white, yellow, gray and green.Patting the stone may make you hear the sound of drum and gongs.

Village of Ba Nationality

As the ancestor of Tujia people,Ba village is characterized by huge stones and logs.King's Castle is the main building of village.There are halberds and swords inside.Travelers can see the farm tools used by Ba people.

Yellow Dragon Waterfall

The Yellow Dragon Waterfall comes from a legend that once a yellow dragon lived inside the cave and helped people drive off devils.The waterfall comes out of a cave over the cliff.

Qinying Waterfall

Opposite the Yellow Dragon Cave locates Qinying Waterfall.'Qin' is an intrument like zither and 'Ying' refers to eagle.The name comes from its shape and its sound.Locals call this waterfall and Yellow Dragon Waterfall lovers waterfall.

Longjin Brook

The brook's name is is from the mountain range opposite it looking like a dragon jumping into the river.'Long' means dragon;'jin' means jump.People usually come here to appreciate folk songs and see the waterwheels roataing over the clear water.

Village by the Brook

In the bamboo forest,visitors can see stilt houses of Tujia made of wood.Some houses are built on the ground while other on water.Tujia people usually hang garlic, cayenne pepper and corns over the door.And you can see them sing their songs while washing clothes in the river.

Macaque Mountain

Visitors can see some monkeys on the mountian.Be careful when feed monkeys since they might hurt you.

Moon Bay

The Moon Bay is formed by Yangtze River turning 110 degrees and making it lke a moon.

Stone Tablet

Stone Tablet is white granite stone with its surface like a tablet.Its length is 105 feet (32 meters)and weight is 4,300 tons.People come here to make wishes since it is believed the stone can bring luck.

4.Chinese Sturgeon Museum

The Chinese Surgeon Museum is in Xiaoxita Town.It was built in 1993 to preserve the rare species of Chinese sturgeon.Chinese sturgeon is also called Green Sturgeon,a kind of migration fish,having lived on the earth for 140 million years.It is one of the oldest vertebrate between chondrichthian and bony fish.

5.Qingjiang River Gallery

Qingjiang River Gallery is famous for its lush mountains,crystal-clear water and Tujia people culture experience.The main scenic spots are shown as below.

Reflection Gorge

The Reflection Gorge is five kilometeres long .You can see Qingjiang Giant Buddha Mountain here.The mountain is like Maitreya formed naturally.Its size is two times larger than Leshan Giant Buddha of Sichuan.The height of the mountain is about 912 feet (278 meters) and the bottom's width is around 486 feet (148 meters).

Xianren Village

Visitors can see traditional Tujia people's houses in the village.The Xiaren Cave is worthing visiting as well.There are plenty of macaques living inside.Besides,people can drink the spring water of the village.It is told that people's eyesight will be improved after drinking.

Wuluo Zhongli Mountain

Wulong Zhongli Mountain's main peak is 1,304.1 feet (397.5 meters).This place is the origin of Tujia people.There is a stone shaped like tiger roaring towards the sky on the mountain.It is called white tiger stone.It is said that the first king of Ba people turned into a white tiger after his death.White tiger is Tujia people's patron god.

6.Qu Yuan's Hometown

Qu Yuan is a patriotic poet from Warring States Period (476 B.C.-221 B.C.).People nowadays go to the historical sites related with him to pay respect.The tourism zone was moved to a higher place when builing the Three Goreges Dam.His hometown is in Zigui County of Yichang covering an area of 82 acres.

The tourism zone includes Qu Yuan’s Temple and locals' traditional-style houses.The temple has Qu Yuan's bronze statue,his tomb,a cenotaph of  145 square yards .Two big lion stones from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) stand beside the tomb.His poems and people's praises about him are carved into the corridor’s walls.
